Last, the head trader at Yanmer is Steve Goldman who is a frequent poster on SI and even has his own site, named "From the Trading Desk". Since there are so many sites on SI, I don't follow it, but it seems quite active.

Steve's SI alias is his own name. He gives his e-mail as steve@yamner.com.

Talk to Steve Goldman at Yammer. I think you will like him and their service. I don't think they are part of DLJ, as far as I know they are independent. Believe they have a unique way for customers to communicate direct with the trader. Steve can fill you in better than I can. At this point I do not use them but plan to in the future. (when <?> I have enuf money for a 2nd account). I will e-mail you a copy of their 11/20/98 e-mail letter that they send out. Might give you more insight.

Thanksgiving

I'm on the road, but am checking in from family's Web TV, now that is something different.

There is much for all of us to be thankful for. Food on our tables, family and friends, and for those of us who are believers, a caring God who looks out for us.

But I also am thankful for those I have met in cyberspace, and for the sharing of ideas, and to you Scott, for being so generous with your time, you have helped me more than you will ever know.

Peace,

David

I have an account at Yamner. Happy so far, but..

I only use it for long term stuff.

I generally use the phone based stuff. Always pick up in <2 rings
(in fact I have had them pick up before the phone system sorts itself
out)

They also are just starting up a video conference type thing for
heavy traders.

All my limited experience so far is fine.

Been hawking this thread for a few weeks. I notice you like to play gap up's, and thought this might prove interesting:

I wonder how you would play it, if at all?

<<EarthLink seen attracting huge attention - report

NEW YORK, Nov 26 (Reuters) - Little-known Internet stock EarthLink
Network Inc (Nasdaq:ELNK - news) may soon attract huge investor
attention if the stock continues to perform the way it has already this
year, according to an article in BusinessWeek.

The independent Internet services provider's stock is up 318 percent so
far this year, compared with 295 percent for competitor America Online
Inc (NYSE:AOL - news) and several analysts think EarthLink will charge
higher still, the magazine said.

BusinessWeek speculated that Sprint (NYSE:FON - news), the nation's
third largest long-distance company and a top carrier of Internet traffic,
may opt to acquire EarthLink, of which it already owns 29 percent.>>

Also, Etrade thread seems to be swirling with a CCI->etrade buyout rumor!?

Hi Shadow! Someone dropped a note on my thread saying there was some inquiries regarding our firm, the services we offer, technologies etc.

I have always been willing to discuss the markets, the markets, execution systems, technologies, etc. whenever, however, with no restrictions. I never claim to know it all, but handling a tremendous number of varied orders, (listed, otc, block, retail pieces) on one of the industry's best trading desks, I tend to have been around the block once or twice on a lot of issues many readers on SI run into and would like to clarification. You have questions, its my pleasure to provide answer or atleast to the greatest degree that I can. I think I could offer a fair amount regarding the use of ECNs, Selectnet, and other OTC execution systems. As well, for the listed traders, our extensive use of Superdot and other listed systems provides some insight into the NYSE and AMEX.

I'd also be more than willing to discuss Yamner & Co., inc. the services our firm offers, the advantages, disadvantages over other market participants, the technologies we employ, how they compare to what others employ etc. It usually comes off a bit biased because probably like all other managers/principals at other firms, I think we offer the best services in the industry. There have been a number of reviews of the firm, by active traders, regarding our services validating my opinions, but to each is ones own.

I have found that there are a lot of great firms out there, each tailored for a particular type of client. With more than 22 execution systems including your standard SOES, SNET, ECNs, as well as auto-x systems, and more than 10 proprietary systems, we are well suited for active traders, hedge funds and mutual funds. We also have a tremendous number of long term investors who have been with us for the 22 years we've been in business. The ability o take stop and limits as well as conditional orders (stop AND limit) on same stock, makes us attractive for position traders.

We have a number of systems to communicate with the firm. Our trading desk answers the phone within 2 rings guaranteed. ICQ and Email are great systems for reports and for those with 33.3k or more of bandwidth, our Video conference server puts you in touch with our trading desk, full time, all day, dynamically.

Anyway, rather than pollute this thread with an offtopic discuss, please feel free to ask any questions at
Subject 15612
or post them here if noone minds.

If anyone has any questions regarding the markets, execution systems, marketplaces, participants, technologies that I can help with, please feel free to ask.

BTW..i've been following your thread for a while.Great thread! I am just usually too busy to post and generally try to avoid stock specific discussion.

Regards,
Steve@yamner.com

I've used Yamner for several months now and consider them the very best of those that I've tried (Etrade, Lombard, Schwab, MB Trading, and others.) You don't always get what you pay for in life but in this case the slightly higher commission rate is more than made up by better fills and in my case, working with Steve, has kept me out of some trades and turned me on to some that I would have missed.

I personally have a problem keeping stop discipline which has cost me dearly many times. Working with Yamner, and Steve in particular, has helped me a great deal. I have found that they are better able to execute trades than I am even though I trade online using MB Trading.

Good luck in your trading.
