Backing up

It sounds like you have a system for selected file backup.

Drive Image by Powerquest will make a complete backup of your harddrive or selected partition on your harddrive.

In the event of a harddrive failure the most common approach is to boot Drive Image from a floppy and then restore the hardrive image from an external device..Jazz drive for example. I believe you would also be able to restore an image file through the peer to peer but I need help here. You would have to be able to configure the network from a floppy boot.

For an automated backup the best way to go is tape. I believe you restore from a floppy boot but I have never done it myself.

I use a combination of keeping a Drive Image file on removable media for worst case/lightning strike scenario and a second bootable harddrive drive for convenience. In the event of a harddrive crash or OS failure I boot from the second harddrive and restore a Drive Image file to the first harddrive.
