Be careful...smallcaps performed like this in 1929..they led the largecaps down. The russell is still down for the year, and Russell value stocks are still below book value, they didn't participate. (And take a look at the REIT index!) The old-timer smallcap fund managers are all still sitting on 20% cash and telling their investors that there's no hurry and to expect more selling before the end of the year. I am seeing block trades go by below the bid-ask spread this week, as I did in Aug-Sept. FWIW....
