God may or may not have said that in the past but do you not allow for the possibility that God could change his mind? If he is all powerful one would presume that even though he said "I change not" he could in fact change if he wanted to. It would be a very limited God that could not change I think- and a very boring God that was the same yesterday, today and forever.

As for the sorts of "details" that are "left in" the story, which Durant thinks would be left out if the story were not true- one really has to laugh at that. Most myths have much of human frailty in them. Characters in myths have human frailties BECAUSE they are created by people. That is, in my opinion, why Gods are such petty tyrants, jealous of their worshippers, cruel to non-believers- it is a reflection of our human failings in our divine creations. Of course, I suppose a more horrible thought would be that our Gods are actually the petty, jealous, tyrants they are reported to be, but I prefer to believe Gods do not exist than to believe in any I have read about.

I have read many volumes by Will and Ariel Durant- I especially like The Age of Louis the XIV but while the Durants work spans a broad swath of history I would not call them the most accurate Historians- although they were wonderful story tellers. But to base your arguments upon Durant texts is ludicrous- the Durants are not the world authorities on any era, although they have written a most entertaining and encyclopedic set of volumes.

Bob your are a flat out liar. God speaks through nature and self.

All this crap you post is from the Roman bible of lies.

Believe what you will but you get to be a nuisance continually propagating this lie. Go get your kicks on religion threads if you dare and quit trying to destroy this one with your half-A__ preaching. You turn people truly seeking God to learn to hate instead of love.
