Right, that's how I see/feel it. We're climbing to test the highs again. A pattern I've noticed in stocks and indexes is that the top or bottom is first established with a brief touch and quick pull-back. Then it is tested more thoroughly the next time with many shares traded at that level.

With regard to the stocks that you say RMBS reminds you of, none of them ever had RMBS' footprint of a long-term base that it eventually emerged from. I know you are basing your observation on the "feel" of the stock now, since it has emerged. I don't know if this makes any difference. I guess the long-term base just reflects the "story" of Rambus--how its' potential was apparent way before earnings could be caught sight of.

Of course, I still have reservations about the Rambus story. They are the same ones that Thomas Donald mentioned, regarding Rambus' encore: PE is awarded a stock based on its long-term growth potential. Is anyone really brave enough to say that Rambus' intellectual property guarantees them anything more than a few years out? Yes, the business model has them spending healthily on R&D. Is that enough, though? Does lightning strike twice? Is their industry position comparable to an Intel or a Microsoft, or more like an Iomega?
