As someone who has several years experience in selling puts and covered calls, I can assure you that, without using theoretical math models, the rate of return on near term covered calls is greater than long term covered calls. (and short puts). 3% is a conservative monthly rate of return. My standard is $1000 per $30,000 invested in the tech field. Dell offers a better rate.

As I had mentioned earlier, I feel that B-S tends to underprice LT calls for growth companies with strong trend like DELL. From that perspective, assuming ST calls are fairly priced, what you say makes sense. But this is not a mathematical observation and as I had mentioned earlier, I have an open action item to research the literature on this topic but do not have time right now.
