The grizzilard outside Missie DJ's cottage is an industrial Kodiak metal crunching high tech bear to end all bears. He has a pale hue like death and fangs that will rip your pocket books to shreddies before you can say green eggs and spam. His habitat is the la-di-da meadows in the high peaks of autumn, where he disguises himself as a mountain bull and sells sells hiking maps to tourists. People think he sleeps in the winter but I have seen varietals on skis. Downhill skis. Strangely when he does hibernate all the dogs of summer come out yapping out around the den. Of course they would yap. Where they will be in the valley they have nowhere to go but up.

I opticked quite a few silvertip in SE BC. Small animals usually and quite shy. I think coastal grizzly are a different gene pool and tend to groups and size a bit more. I did see one one time and he was smoking a cigarette by a stump. Naturally I was curious so I wandered over to get a closer look and damned if he didn't speak perfect English. Naturally the conversation got around to the loggers he had eaten in the past. They are a staple of mountain bear. Always around and easily to sneak up on with all the noise. The reason they drink chain oil is obvious. Loggers are difficult to eat with all their clothes and steel toe boots. Well you need something to wash it down with and chain oil seems to work. He said he had met you when he was younger. Said you were lucky he wasn't hungry at the time.
