Keith Benjamin is skeptical e-commerce stocks can hold up (although he likes PTVL [one of my favorite shorts])

The Thanksgiving feast came early this year, with investors gorging
themselves on almost any stock. The first course of the retail feeding frenzy included Yahoo!, Amazon.com, and Ebay, with AOL almost lagging as the main course. We are reminded of the ancient Hawaiian royalty that reportedly used to eat pork, poi and pineapple to the point of extreme fullness, only to have attendants massage their bellies so they could eat even more. With the good stuff eaten, investors were forced into the refrigerator to snack on the leftover stocks.

When the gluttonous day trader issues a polite burp after this feast, we would not be surprised to see the air come rushing out from under some of these stocks. We don't expect more mergers or fundamental information. And without news before Christmas, we don't see the catalysts to keep the stocks moving.

Sometimes true, but my point is that EGGS is almost always way down the list and many
dollars more expensive. For example:

Sony Mavica FD71 ... very popular digital camera
Buy Comp: 565.95 (2nd cheapest) EGGS 719.52 (40th cheapest)
Graphics Blaster Riva TNT AGP Version
BUY Comp 138.95 (1st) EGGS 147 (12th)
Monster3D II 12MB 3DFX Voodoo2 Card
1st Micro 139.95 (1st) EGGS 175.75 (7th)
Deskjet 720C Inkjet Printer
BuyComp 258.95 (1st) EGGS 307.04 (34th)
Sound Blaster Live! Value 256 Voice
BuyComp 78.95 (1st) EGGS 86.46 (15th)
HP Surestore CD-Writer Plus 7200I Cdrw INT IDE
BuyComp 248.95 (1st) EGGS 402.88 (30th/last-most expensive)
HP Scanjet 4100CXI COL Fbscan 1200DPI USB Only
BuyComp 177.95 (1st) EGGS 200.11 (27th/last-most expensive)

I picked these items randomly. Try it yourself.
