COOL Gets HOT:
Cyberian Outpost Gains 153% In Week

"Where Wall Street Meets The Web"

Ever since it's IPO in February web-based etailer Cyberian Outpost (NASDAQ:COOL - news) has been cold on Wall Street. Since November 19, however, COOL sizzled with 153% gain to $39.50 per share.

Driving this and a handful of other etailers up on IPODEX is a network of sites called ShopperConnection pulled together by music seller CDnow (NASDAQ:CDNW - news) which includes video seller Reel.com and toy seller eToys.com.

The idea is that the parts equal more than the whole in a bid to scale up to meet Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN - news) which is hell bent for leather to be the etail king.

ShopperConnection is integrating transaction ability, one-click buys. But we think the key is to forget playing catchup to Amazon, land as many etail partners across all products and scale the network larger than any one site, Amazon included.

We don't believe even a fantastic holiday season can support the valuations for all of them but think that too much focus was on Amazon and eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY - news) at the possible expense of all other etail stocks. Now we think they've caught up or closed some of the gap in valuation.
