Hi Rarebird,

If you want to place a bet on a market downturn, BEARX is the better vehicle. In an up market BEARX underperforms RYURX, in a down market it outperforms RYURX:

The reason BEARX has underperformed RYURX during the last 12 months, is because the markets have been up!

(One can get similar performance as RYURX by investing 50% in BEARX and leaving the other 50% in cash.)
