Bearcatbob / Canadian Newspapers

There are probably five Canadian Newspapers that provide very good news and stories regarding the oil and gas industry. The heart and soul of the industry is Calgary. Vancouver is more for mining and other misc. industries.

The Financial Post is headquartered in Toronto and has a Calgary office who provide articles on companies and the industry. It use to be the premier paper for oil and gas activity info on the web, but content has been declining over the past twelve months. In my opinion, the hard copy is still the best for financial information. It is the Canadian equivalent of the Wall Street Journal. I enjoy reading it. Unfortunately, people south of the border don't get the opportunity to read it.

The new National Post carries most of the same articles that appear in the Financial Post.

The Calgary Sun is published by the same people as the Financial Post.
Most articles are the same as the FP - but they also list local articles from time to time.

All three of the above use the same news feeds.

The Calgary Herald is another who provides local articles from time to time and it uses the Canadian Press as their news feed for national news.

The Globe and Mail has offices in Calgary and is a leading Canadian publication nationally. Article content is different than the above listed newspapers.

Stick to these and you will get most of the available news on oil and gas activities Related to canadian operators.

Being located in the U.S., you are probably familiar with EDGAR. Canada has their own EDGAR and is named SEDAR. You can view and download quarterly and annual reports in acrobat format. This is a must location for those who like to review and analyze companies.

One last mention is Canada Stockwatch. I use it for quotes and charts for all listed Canadian Companies. This portion is free to all visitors.
