jach:

i agree but make your point once, not 100 times, it makes you sound like a hyping pain in the ass -- if you are in fact one, please take it over to yahoo with the other lunatics.

random thought for the day: bamm's performance simultaneously demonstrates why amzn may truly never be profitable in any category (low to no barriers to entry, lots of real world shops with larger volumes of business and therefore economies of scale, able to charge lower prices through their own sites and "e-malls" at yahoo, msn, aol, xcit, spree, shopping.com, planetretail.com, etc. etc.)

and

demonstrates that amzn's current valuation is the result of 1% fundamental analysis, and 99% momo investors who literally invest in companies, day trading or longer, knowing nothing about valuation methods, the company's financial statements, or how to read them (yes, they are making a lot of money right now -- no doubt). look at the volume in these stocks, it's a pick a .com-a-day pile on, rotate to next one

not the stablest platform for long term investing

ah, the angst of an amzn long, who actually believes in the long term fundamentals of this company, when a ray of reality actually penetrates the thick layers of complacency brought on by profits of stock ownership ... something about sunlight beign the best antiseptic ...

<<<I went to the gift section recently with all the plans of buying a lot of presents there, and was
distressed at what I discovered. Am I off the norm and are others happy about how that section is
working? I still like the company, although I'm not so sure about the Wal-Mart visions, but I think
that they need to do more with their toys (being the parent of two boys). Does anyone know if the
gifts are being sold higher than the books and music, so that suddenly this company which has
made me so much money might suddenly have the chance of making a profit in the reasonable
future? I love Amazon, and can't think of a book or music that I have otherwise bought since I
discovered it, but I realize that they need to start making some money sometime. Don't they? Or
do I just not understand these new internet rules at all---no profit, just market share! Thanks. John

Glen, I assumed that you were talking about BAMM ... hope this is still a valid
assumption... what I wrote is what I tell myself, because I always have difficulty selling
when in the profit side... so, I did not mean to be a smart guy or anything like that...

Amein,

No need for an apology. I was trying to point out my opinion that AMZN is a momentum play at this level too. I believe neither deserves their current trading price.

and I do not know who created the post ( I assume you mean the thread for bamm), I
assume it must be you... since you bought it at 12 way ahead of everybody... smart move
I must say... me on the other hand, only heard of bamm today on SI from jach... by the
time I called my broker, who did not know what is it.. it was already 38... I said wow...
too late for me...

I never bought BAMM and agreed with you the momentum had played out by the mid 30s.

if you know of a broker who is mainly in tech socks, please let me know...

I use DLJ for online and they are not specifically tech.

I was not flaming nor complaining about your opinion. I was trying to equate a long AMZN postion with a long BAMM position.

Both are momentum plays at the moment.

Glenn

PS You seem like a very nice person<G>
