hello; Thanks for the site. I have been researching multi-monitors via Zeuspaul's thread index which Peter Michaelson kindly posted to me, & the Phactor site is also very helpful.
I have a dual monitor setup on Win 98 with one ATI card for each monitor. My onboard card had to be disabled because it is non-compatible. Problem: my PCI slots are full & I had to remove my networking card to put in the 2nd monitor and of course I want a 3rd monitor. If I want to put the networking card back in, this means I have to get a single card with 4 outputs. When I researched how much they cost, it seemed a good way to go might be to get a new PC with lots of PCI slots, use the 2 cards I have + the new onboard card & profit from the extra speed, memory etc. on the new computer, plus network it with the old one.
I found a nice speedy 16 gig Aptiva at CompUSA, but - new problem: it has only 3 PCI slots. Then I called Dell & their 450 MHz 10 gig also has only 3 open. Also, (please excuse) esthete here with 2 black monitors, black keyboard, tower etc. so don't want cream to intrude on the group! Can anyone suggest a unit with more than 3 open PCI slots? (& preferably AGP onboard)? Thank you. D.A.
