Looking for a gap down -- in this market -- is suicide. Imagine -- this morning -- being short EGGS and seeing Dean Witter post its $41 bid. FWIW, what scares me about shorting EGGS NOW, and holding it over night, is its inclusion in that new Internet Index. Plus, I was surprised that I didn't see as much ISLAND trades as usual. Seems that others are jumping in now, too. And, even though a lot of mom and pops are buying the stock, it is starting to seem that they will not be selling so long as comparable stocks are still sky high. Yesterday I thought I'd see a "daytrader" selloff going into the close -- and I posted that prognostication before the market closed. I was wrong. Clearly, there are a lot of people buying simply for the huge gaps. And as the stock price gets higher, the gaps will get wider. One day the shorts will reap huge profits in EGGS and its brethren. I just don't see that day coming till after Christmas.
