There was no volume to speak of in anything today. All the futures contracts were dead. The stock markets were thin too. One stock I know of that had ten times its normal volume was Cybercash. Residual of the internet frenzy, where every nook and cranny of opportunity is sought out.

Does anyone here read the Financial Research Letter? I received a sample issure in the mail dated September 1998. The main thrust of the letter was that the containment of inflation cannot continue much longer. They mentioned the record level of instantly spendable money. They also covered the Japanese government, how these capable men are apt to turn things around big time. Also mentioned was the habit that nature has of swinging from one extreme to another. Though its November 27 and to be 66 degrees here in the midwest tomorrow, the letter forecasted a brutal winter, where more fuel oil will be burned than ever before in history. It was an interesting read.

More interesting because I remember getting a sample of the same letter in the early mid eighties. At the time I was believing gold and silver prices would turn up again. The letter I got went on and on about how interest rates will be plummetting and stock prices will be rising. I didn't believe them though, but they were sure right.
