IBM is doing the CD Warehouse (CDWI) web site ...

CD Warehouse is to "open" it's site for sale of NEW/USED CD's, as early as Dec 1. IBM did their site (same software ?) ... when it does open the CDWI site ....CDWI will be a rocket. We saw a sign of that today ... traded 10x the volume ... a sign of emerging explosion.

Check out the CDWI thread here and on Yahoo to learn more.

Doc,

RE: Potential electronic digital distribution businesses for DRIV - If what you suggest comes to fruition for DRIV, Digital River may have to change its name to Digital Ocean, Digital Earth or Digital Universe!

Regards.

Elliot

Doc, I could not agree more....

DRIV may have some difficulty in some very large areas, like the one Hans mentioned, owing to industry oligarchies and security concerns. But I would not rule out anything, even some participation in the recording industry, and notwithstanding the Madison Project.

The coming reality, already recognized by DRIV in its original private placement memorandum, is digital transmission of information of all types (with emphasis, hopefully, on those for which fees may be earned!). Books, chapters of books, music, movies, courses in everything imaginable (ex. practical anatomy, etc.) from the best profs of the best schools on video or text, or both. The mind boggles. It is a chance to use digital technology, once with big-time bandwidth, to educate and entertain, proselytize and persuade, sell, cajole, badger....you name it, on individually tailored bases. One can watch La Boheme, another Big Time Wrassling, a third a college lecture on the philosophy of religion. It is the promise of television fulfilled in that, whether you seek divine inspiration, an MBA, or base vulgarity, you can have it. . . while no one else has to!

Such fascinating speculations aside, DRIV is just getting started, and must nail down its place in the original game, software. From there it must choose carefully the next applications for their revenue-generating/maintaining potential. Redefining now toward too large a role might be hurtful to the essential start-up mission. But, I have little doubt they are looking at a broader field in their executive councils.

This is going to be fun.

(By the way: what is your take on the TSQD situation, is the market valuing this correctly at 10% of DRIV?)
