The US has never colonized anyone, and it offers a home to tens of millions of poor and oppresed people who having arrived are free to express temselves and carry out their lives in a way and at a standard of living that quite a few countries in the world refuse to allow or are incapable of achieving for their populations ro in many cases both. Does stealing the American southwest from Mexico count as colonizing? No? How about Commander Perry forcing treaties upon Japan at gunpoint? Surely wresting Cuba and the Philippines from Spain, then inventing the .45 pistol to KEEP those pesky Filippino freedom fighters down once they were hit must count, no? Immigrants... you mean the Chinese we brought in to build the railways and then we refused to let in any Chinese WOMEN?! Or do you mean the Japanese whose property we seized and then straight into internment camps because they didn't look right??? (though evidently German and Italians DID look right, as they were allowed to continue with their lives). Central America? The United Fruit Company? Stealing Hawaii? Americans are always so CONFUSED when people hate us, like the Iranians!! Americans forget that we toppled their democratically elected government via the CIA and installed the cruel dictator Shah Pahlevi and his Secret Police. Please, this is a great country and all but we have MORE than our share of sins... I haven't even MENTIONED slavery, Jim Crow or Eisenhower cancelling democratic elections in Viet Nam even though we'd agreed to it to help our allies... THE FRENCH!!! (History is so inconvenient!)
