Personally, I think Liviakis is a relatively mild negative for the stock. I had a brief conversation with the analyst at Cruttenden Roth and I asked about Liviakis. He seemed to think Liviakis was pretty irrelevant. Institutional holdings have moved from about 400k to at least 3.4 mill shares in the last 6 months. I believe these are correlated with the buy recs of Cruttenden Roth, Kaufman Brothers and JW Genesis. Although the comments by newsletters like BiResearch, RedHering and Microcap1000, haven't hurt.

IR will send you a copy of the Cruttenden Roth rec.

Analysts give recs either because the company has paid for their institutional services in some way or because the analyst is trying to make money for their institutional clients and believes the company is honestly undervalued. IFCI currently has 5 analysts which is excellent considering that the market cap is currently under $250 mill. Even groups like Liviakis get lucky every once in a while and end up working with a solid growing company. But I doubt that much of the volume right now has much to do with Liviakis.

The institutions that have been buying, have their pals. These include other institutions as well as analysts. It would be easy for these institutions to move this stock up to $30 if they chose to (a P/E of around 40 on 99 earnings with greater than 60% expected growth) but it appears as though they've been happy to shake the trees and pick up the loose shares.

I'm not sure if we will break through the ceiling this time, but we are certainly making a solid move without news. The two year chart is certainly interesting.

As noted in posts on Yahoo, in the Fiber Optics industry, IFCI is rated #1. MFNX is rated #3 and expected to earn 2 cents in 1999 (compared to 70 cents for IFCI, which will likely be higher with the expected acquisitions), but compare the charts. It certainly shows the potential of IFCI.
