I posted benchmarks for a K6-2 @500 and a Pentium II @ 500 and yes, they are very close. Seems like "Syph"-Davis readjusts the Winstone Benchmark every year to favor Intel chips. Or maybe they actually think everyone is using the multitasking mumbo jumbo you alluded to.
It's also clear that Anand is in love with Celerons and BX boards because he can overclock them...yet he get's an K6-2 engineering sample that won't clock to 500 when other reports say the new core overclocks easily to 500. Maybe someone should send him a production chip.

Cringe - Re: " Clearly, from what Anand wrote (which you just happened to overlook) the benchmark favors processors which have a fast L2 cache- something that puts the K6-2 at a hefty disadvantage that produces a lower benchmark. "

Sounds like the Winstone 99 benchmark was modified to be a better indicator of the overall CPU SYSTEM - which includes the caches.

Re: "-You have something to brag about while the K6-2 is out"

Do I detect a CRINGE here?

Re: "10% Slower but 24% CHEAPER makes ($259 K6-2 400 vs. $323
PII 400 on Pricewatch) the 400 MHz K6-2 the Price Performance
LEADER !"

I'll re-write this - the 300 MHz Celeron is the PRICE PERFORMANCE LEADER - 62% CHEAPER than a 400 MHz K6-2 and only 7% SLOWER !
