Interesting thing about the auctions, sometimes they are auctions, sometimes they are just sales in disguise.

Take the Dragon Naturally speaking preferred. They've been selling it for $49.95 for about 6 weeks, in various places. Now it's on the auction, 4,000 copies at $39.95 minimum bid.

Guess what ?

They won't get 4,000 bids, everyone who bids $39.95 will get it at that price. And they know it. This is not an auction, it's just a sale at $39.95 [except for a few stupid jerks who bid more than $39.95, and sometimes it amazes me at what I see on the auction sites, all of them, not just EGGS].

By the way, I bid for one copy.

And anyone buying it should know that it is version 2, and version 3 is out.

Now, all of that said, this might be REALLY SMART marketing, but that depends on how much EGGS has in these products, or on what the terms of the consignment are [it's possible that EGGS doesn't even own the inventory, that it's a consignment directly with either Dragon themselves or one of their distributors, EGGS makes the sale and gets a commission, but the inventory is actually owned by someone else].

So many questions about this business model, so few answers.

Revenue may be huge but in the end it's profits/margin that counts.
