Rick,

If there's any subject that gets me on my soapbox, it's this one. Especially since at the time it happened, most traders just assumed it was "them" or "fate" or "a fast day". I smelled a rat immediately.

Fortunately, I've developed some good contacts in the publishing industry who have graciously posed my comments. To show you how sleazy the whole thing is, when T Carey of Barrons contacted Brown, they denied the whole thing (this after the local manager and Boston trading dept acknowledged it). The local manager, after a trip to Boston, refused to discuss it further.

But I've gotten a ton of private posts and e mails from other traders since last July confirming this with their own horror stories. Hopefully the SEC will get on the ball at some point and shake NASD's tree.

Alan
