Actually there are some Y2K stocks that are a good long term buy because they do MORE than Y2K..although Y2K will give some a HUGE earnings boost next year. For example CRYSF, Crystal Systems has an excellent Y2K fix program which is being used by many large companies, and also a leading currency conversion system..which will be needed by countries around the world..especially European nations, for many years to come. The currency programs will likely yield a much higher revenue stream..but CRYSF will get a huge boost for Y2K in 1999. The spending is just now really starting to build. CRYSF is trading low end right now. Check it out.

J.H.,

I agree that they are different businesses, but what is similar is the momentum that is making these stock fly out of control. What has fundamentally changed in theses companies in the last month? Nothing, but the momentum.
