Right- I almost NEVER use stop losses. By the same token, do you know if they'll drop a bid when they see your sell limit order above the actual bid, to try to make you sell? This would make "cents" to them.

kendall, the last 20 minutes of trading for OMKT, CDNW, and NTKI seemed like good examples of taking out the stops. I watched OMKT go from 25 to 20 in a matter of minutes. 20 seemed to be where the lowest stops were set, because the price rapidly moved to 20 3/4 right before the close once the buying frenzy resumed. For those who sold at or near 25 where greeted with a 20% discount, which personally pleased me <ggg>

Kendall- Stop loss "trickery" -- thanks

Much gratitude for such a knowledgeable and thoughtful reply to my "stop loss" question!

I more or less knew how these games are played, but last week was my first experience of getting bitten by one of the MM sharks circling for shares on a frenetic market day.

This truly is a pro/am tournament where the pros have a huge advantage!

Costly lesson. However, us amateurs overall did more than ok last week.

(Bowdoin is still a beautiful campus!)
