B.J. Lee, re:<<The first one is why DELL is base building while most of other tech stocks (internet or not) charging ahead? >> I'll answer this question, the others you raised I'll leave for other members of the thread to address.

IMO, Dell is base building at this time because they missed the whisper number last quarter. MM are concerned that Dell may have lost their forward momentum. At the current pe for the stock, the market will not tolerate a slow down in Dell's growth. If Dell drops from a 50% growth rate, to say a 30% growth rate, the pe will adjust to a 30X as compared to its present 60+ pe. I sure you already known this.

>>DELL did not even have decent pre-earnings run up this time

??? Looked like a strong runup to me

Factors in the current stall (all of 16 days):

1. Disappointment that dell only beat earnings by .01. But judged any other way than by the "whisper", it was a fantastic report.
2. CPQ announced entry into the direct sales foray at a perfect time to put a damper on the earnings release.
3. Sector rotation into e-commerce has kept the momentum and leverage crowd pretty busy.

All in all, a great time to accumulate dell and wait a few weeks for the market's inevitable recognition. Cisco sat for a while after earnings, built a base and then blasted off. I feel confident dell will do the same.
