Bob, when I'm at school I use the computer labs. There are couple hundred computers connected at T-3. It feel like I'm cheating when I'm using the T-3 computers. I use Datek and the transactions seem like they go through faster.

Bob, I think cable modems are particularly helpful if you use Level II or daytrade. When I had my 56K line, oftentimes the Level II data would "back up" and show a crossed market (bid higher than ask). No such problem with a cable modem. Also, if you use ETrade or other online broker which requires you to "preview" your order prior to sending it in, its much quicker to go from one web page to another. For daytrading, its very valuable.

Absolutely no comparison! Cable modems save you enough time to pay for themselves the day you first use them. Also, you don't get disconnected. Log on at the beginning of the day and stay on all day.

The problem with cable modems is that when you cable goes out, so will you......

(bad weather seems to have an effect on cable.)

Bob..

Signed up with optimum@home in CT...
was on @28.8 dial-up prior..it's definitely
faster but not with "busy" sites..also..
I've been less than impressed with the
reliability of the service...I've experienced a
lot of down time in two weeks of use..
