You are too modest, coug, you asked a very interesting question. I, personally, prefer to do what I call not-shopping. I like to window shop, pick things over, think to myself that I COULD have the thing if I wanted, but not buy it.

Except, of course, for the things you mentioned, books, software, music, I would add here fruit, barley wine, and other simple pleasures, then I buy.

If you ski, then skis are not a luxury, they are a necessity. Kinda hard to ski without them.

DArn it. I really want to write about what YOU wrote-- this is an issue around here in Yuppieland. Loved your line about the equipment being better than the participant.
But my husband is marching around me looking at his watch. So I can't. Well. Later. No one is ever rude and nasty here at DAR. So I hope you'll feel very free to express your views. Chances are though that we'll agree with you because we're are not at all normal.
What do YOU want for Christmas? What KIND of books?
