The trouble with Satellite ISP is very high cost

I assume you are talking about something like the Hughes direct satellite service. They typically only give you 100 MB of download per month before they really start tacking on charges, and I know that I normally download about 30 to 50 MB per day when I am daytrading. There is A LOT of information coming down the pike. I suspect that for most people, ISDN would be a lot cheaper than a satellite system for daytrading. It is not quite as fast (128 Kb/sec) max (2 B channels), but the cost for that is usually a couple of hundred bucks per month. This sounds high, but if you look at what they charge per MB after you download your first 100 MB or so, I think it is probably more cost effective. I wish I could get a cable modem or XDSL, but they are not available here yet. My only alternatives are 56K, ISDN, frame relay, or fractional T1, all of which are cost prohibitive. When XDSL is available, it will be at rates up to 8 MB/sec downstream and 2 MB/sec upstream for a couple of hundred bucks/month. Or 1-2 MB/sec down and 500 kB/sec up for less than $100/month. I can't wait!!!
