Jock, what you fail to realize is the enormous advantage DELL gained while the others sat by and lost market share. Momentum like that is most difficult to slow down, and no matter how quickly the other guys get their sites running, they're still running at a serious deficit.

The other key to the equation that you are not taking into account is just how difficult it will actually be for the indirect manufacturers to shift their processes to direct marketing. This sounds much easier than it really is.

Nevertheless, this is DELL's game to lose. That's unfortunately the problem with being number one...There's nowhere to go but down.
