So the cable company is the ISP and the AOL $10 charge is an extra charge?

Many cable ISP customers would just use Yahoo, Netcenter and SI...at no extra charge...

But I do wonder how the telephone companies are going to compete with the cable companies with the cable companies upgrading systems and the phone companies doing nothing...(The single cable residential line could do everything...for the phone companies to compete they would have to give two lines for the price of one...develop DSL...and still give up performance advantages...Wireless?...)...So the fate of telephone line ISP is in the hands of the phone companies...the ISPs can do nothing themselves except lobby for access to the cable systems...but...the cable operators want to be the ISPs on the cable systems!

So...AOL hedges the future with Netcenter...
