Seymour has articulated some problems I have seen with the CPQ web site--- too many categories of choice, no way to figure out where the better deals are, no astounding discounts for web buying. As for the rest of the points Jim makes, I think his analysis is valid. ANd now I'm a bit concerned that Q4 will turn out well... EP may not have done enough to streamline web sales and really pitch to the biz customers that he needs to.

6) Corporate buyers need special care. Dell's brilliant move here was to offer to create closed, custom mini-sites for corporate accounts, so those companies' employees and managers can buy directly from a company-specific mini-site, which lists only approved models and configurations, at pre-negotiated prices.

I wonder if this special offer to shareholders could be a field test?
