Hi, Oak. Nice to make your acquaintance. I didn't say the end was coming, I just fervently believe that severe disruptions are on their way, culminating about the 15-21 of January 2000 in a rather severe awakening for most of the global populace.

I have been learning a great deal from my the Mormons who have food storage down to a science. Yes, I've got canned goods laid aside.
I have my home for sale...you know...sell it to 'em when they are clamoring for real estate. I happen to live in THE fastest growing area of the lower 48...Portland OR. It is a seller's market, fortunately up here.
While we (Portland) were about 110th on the original list for US ARMY Domestic Preparedness training, we were in fact, kicked up to among the 1st 12 who got the 19 hour intensive, in April '98. Being a city of bridges, it only takes 2 armed military types (one on each end) to immobilze us, and make our 1 million plus quite consternated, PLUS neatly divided into 4 quadrants. This divide and control is possible because of the confluence of rivers here.
Two hospitals have already been designated as THEEEE places where the ARMY will permit "casualties" ,etc.
I have purchased and doing some retrofitting:
a brand new 22' travel coach,
will be installing solar on it shortly,
and have my "spot" picked out, away from the clamp down
of the military who will be VERRRRRY busy in the city,
and have even learned how to load my own shells.
Even have redundancy plans for all occasions, as best as I can plan for me and my family.
My gold recycling biz is very portable.
Ditto my placer gold recovery equipment.
Water purification and distillation projects are now complete,
have yet to build solar oven for slow cooking, but will.
Oh, and I'm not going to be doing just beans, rice and rats, ok? Plenty of fish up here just for the taking,
ditto, deer, rabbit, squirrel.
I'll leave the bears for those more brave, ditto snakes!
But, seriously, yes, I'm preparing for a minimum of 6 months disruption as the military first gets tough and then can't control
folks, instead doing the expedient thing instead of what they are told to do.
Another thing that told me to get my act together for the sake of my family is this:
My commodity broker is the head of the amateur radio club in this area.
The old farts club as I've always called them,
just got drafted about 7 months ago by the Regional Civil Defense boys in the know after the ARMY came through and trained 167 locals in the who's and what's of what's coming. That kinda snapped my head around. So, I now have a ham radio as well as the dynamo-wound up one.
I'd say more, but I think you get the point.
Oh, and while I have your attention, I'd like to state one more time, for the record...GOLD=MONEY.
I've been very surprised, even though I shouldn't be
at the number of people who are already preferring to do business in gold rather than fiat...
For example, in my circle,
I've got 2 mechanics,
a retired welder,
a dentist,
a grocery store,
a used clothing store,
an antique store,
and a farmer,
all very happy to see me when I shop with them.
This is what I don't "get" ...

I know it and use it as MONEY.
I pay taxes on what I sell,
and I sell and use as money
what I find in my prospecting pan, a/w/a the recycling business production.
Gold in the stream is FREE
and gold in the recycling business is less than $20 per oz! And that is before the 10:1 silver credits!!!
When folks finally wake up to gold being not just a S/D phenom or a highly leveraged play, or only view it just as a store of value when deflation is in our very faces,
....when folks finally wake up and see it and use it and acquire it because it is money...then they'll sleep easier AND eat.
Even in the 30's, when gold COINS were confiscated, the gov't paid well for raw gold through their gov't assay offices. Beats the heck outta repudiated paper.
The Western mind can't see gold as money, because they don't know the 3 simple P's of gold: Price/Purity/Poundage. Master those and you'll eat, have mobility choices, and have shelter.
