When talking about the price of crude oil it is important to note that not oil is created equal.

Mexican oil and Saudi oil is generally a lower API gravity (thicker and containing less gasoline and heating oil and maybe more sulfur) than is the benchmark "Light Sweet Crude" that we base our pricing on.

This is the same reason you will see different prices for Brent (North Sea crude) and U.S. crude, which used to be called West Texas Intermediate. Brent is always about $1 lower than WTI or its equivalent.
