Coug,

Well, I like what you like, so you might possibly like what I like: say Garcia Marquez, Conrad, Borges, Barbara Tuchman, for starters. I could go on...

Tom Robbins? I was doing my regular Saturday thing, large hot chai at Borders, picking up this week's Barrons, and I had a big stack of Iliad and Odyssey versions, trying to figure out which one I wanted. The young man behind the counter at the expresso bar suggested I ditch old Homer and read Tom Robbins. Already have, I said.

"Still Life With Woodpecker?" Check. "Skinny Legs and All?" Check. "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues?" Check. "Half Asleep in Frog Pajamas?" Uh, no, started that one, and had to put it down, and never came back. "Got to finish it." Ok.

Tom Robbins. Worth a shot.
