<< What on earth has the US done to get
this kind of treatment?>>

Limtex... Envy, my friend, envy.
See the latest Forbes for the story of the demise of the French as their intellectuals and entrepreneurs flee the country, ...to where?, yes, to the good old USA, a nation that has given more of its manhood and treasure to save the rest of the world from tyranny than all all nations combined. I am American, a veteran and damn proud of both.

*OT* Seriously, if you don't stop this French bashing I'm going to lapse back to the old WLL rant.

>1 There are hundreds of thousands of young American boys buried
>in France having been killed in the act of saving the French and

Limtex and all, those guys came to save Europe, of which the French are only a part (although an important part since they make the Cognac). So we can't seriously expect the French to be obedient for the US forever. And in any case, their pilots took part in the Gulf war energetically blasting away the civilians of the defenceless Baghdad alongside their equally heroic American and British comrades.

Even worse judgement (not actually yours, Limtex) was to suggest that the French should be towing the British line since the Brits supported one particular politician (de Gaulle). Has anyone ever heard of a hundred year war? Occupation of Bretagne? Jeanne d'Arc? Waterloo? World Cup of 1998?

French have given lot to the world. Think about the French letters, French kisses and French lingerie. Plus, who could seriously argue with the concept of French maids?
