Latin America: PC Market Shares -- Q3'98 Vs. Q3'97
John Roberts

Total unit shipments to the Latin American market increased 10.6 percent between the third quarter of 1997 and the third quarter of 1998, according to Dataquest. Major vendors such as Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and especially Acer, however, all saw declines in their market shares as shipment rate growth failed to beat the overall average. Although Dell was not listed as a separate vendor in the data, it is likely that this company picked up much of the slack from the other major vendors.
