Thread,
These are the machinations of a brain on Holiday. I think that the Oil Patch is certainly the most interesting sector in the market right now. The suffused state of the world oil supplies is a sham IMHO. I say this for many reasons that are not all that important. But what could be the purpose of this sham and what do we learn from the fact that the OPEC nations appear to agree that further OIL production cuts before March are not necessary? Why are the M&A gurus working overtime to bring together the behemoths of the Integrated Oil Companies? What is the market telling us or me at any rate?

IMHO the Arab nations have supported their Asian counterparts for the same reason that Greenspan cut interest rates three times in the past two months. The OPEC nations output parameters and Greenspan's interest rate controls are the only global mechanisms that allow for economic stimulation. The Oil Producers know that if you allow the price of Oil to rise in weak economic times then they will have protracted decreased revenues and protracted recessions.

The M&A guys know that you have opportunities like the present maybe once in a century to consolidate an industry the size of the Oil Industry. They are all making the last preparations for the big Millenium push that will finally create the Global Economy that has only been hinted at in the 1990's. Then we will see OIL at $20-$30/bbl and gas at $3-4.00/mmbtu.

So why AIPN? Because the Caspian is the last frontier and we are sitting in the middle of the big guys who are all going to claw out each others eye to get at our concession. The BS about why they need to consolidate to survive is the biggest pile of cra# I have ever heard. The word is called Monopoly. Buy low sell high and we are low now and this is going to be one hell of a ride.

Imagine that the Hunts got greedy (their fatal flaw) and they have to cover their naked shorts of the last 2 weeks with their warrants at $2.00, and we get news that we hit gas and have a JV.

Whoaaaaaaaaaaa baby. Short squeeze, Momentum and a wet dream all in one. Have a nice week. I see evidence on Level II of short covering today, FWIW.
