>>ROY — In his first budget announcement for the new year, Gov. Mike Leavitt Friday announced $21 million in proposals to create jobs in the new century and help Utah businesses prosper.
From Iomega's world headquarters here, Leavitt outlined a plan for $11.6 million in tax cuts for businesses, including a $5.6 million sales-tax exemption on manufacturing equipment and a $6 million exemption on pollution control equipment. Benefits of the proposal, which is to be included in the governor's budget for the year 2000, will trickle down to average Utahns through high paying jobs, Leavitt said.<<
