Carl,

Well Hot diggity, we finally got crossover that the bears have been forecasting for a couple of years now.<vbg>...and they also said MU didn't have the knowhow, technology or even the cash to be able to ramp to 64mb ...They said that SEA will be the leaders and leave MU with the scraps... Yeah right the "forever bears" are always right in predicting MU's future...ROFLMAO

Why should anybody be surprised by this anomaly, this is typical and happened the same way from 4 mbit to 16mbit. The driving force to convert was the need for larger memory system(16mbyte memory over 4mbyte)...due primarily to WIN95. Now with win98 and PC100 systems and 350MHZ and above we need 64mbyte and higher requirements driving the 64mbit memory technology.

These bears are a funny species...aren't they? :-)

carl, you have the cart ahead of the horse. 16 mb is rising precisely b/c the big boys have moved to 64 mb. they WILL NOT stay behind at 16 mb b/c that will GUARANTEE that the price declines. it is really a nonissue b/c costs rise when production is reduced.

it may help the small guy who just stays in 16 mb for a little while longer but this game isn't about mom and pop shops.

So it really will have little effect on increasing the revenues of those who are currently loading the line with the 64 Meg. Micron has put its future on the 64 Meg -- which it should have; BUT it has not perfected the process yet. Samsung has and Hyundai's next generation is 3 months away from full production in Eugene. Time marches on.
