James and Chas, thanks for your help.

I believe I have finally solved the problem. By removing the DMA select under the property of Type 46 disk drive, I am able to run this state-of-the-art hard disk in the slave mode. I will attempt to configure it as a master later this afternoon EST. I cannot understand this. The CD-ROM also has the DMA selected, but it is running without a problem. Also, which channel or channels of DMA is this HD using and the CD-ROM? This is not reported under Windows 98.

By un-selecting the DMA property, am I sacrificing the performance of this hard disk?
