'Y2K on Art Bell's show, November 17
asked in the TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Q&A Forum
From the Art Bell show of November 17 with guest Jim Phillips—
Art was reading from a fax he'd received from "a veterinarian named Pete".
"I have a friend who makes and sells survival tapes. He lives 45 miles from Boise.Their community had a meeting about Y2K with various people including local power officials there. And he told me that this official told them they would probably be without power for three months. He told me about a Border Patrol agent who bought the tapes and told him that if the power goes out at the border in San Diego, the Patrol would probably abandon the border as there was nothing they could do about a mass of aliens crossing. In addition he had an Air Force general buying the tapes who, when asked about the military and Y2K, said China has the largest standing army in the world. Their equipment is antiquated and would be unaffected by Y2K. They would probably use the opportunity to take Taiwan and other areas in which they were interested. North Korea would invade the south. The US military would be unable to do anything about this since 40% of our equipment, sattelites and so forth, would be unavailable. The Japanese would be unable to do anything about any of this either, no military there. The only option would be nuclear. We would use that option, wouldn't we?"
(to Jim): Now, that's pretty black stuff… you consider any of that possible?
Jim: Uh, it's possible, yes. You could take a look at any of the scenarios and they all could be possible. And, uh, but what do we do about it? What can we do about it now?
Art: Well.. you.. you know, your approach is… a laudible approach, to become more spiritual, to have the right kind of atttitude about what's coming, to acquire knowledge about it and to then finally, yes, acquire the material things that you're going to need, clothing, food, water, light, whatever you can manage to muster… to physically make it easier on you. All of that makes sense. The only place where I think that you and I disagree, is about… the possibility of people getting the right attitude and being nice, spiritual beings during… frankly, I'm going to bluntly honest with you Jim, and I think that if the power went out for three weeks, there would be complete anarchy… Do you argue with that?
Jim: Uh… I must say that's possible. Now if it went out today, maybe that's true. But, I believe that we need to be involved and I think part of the message that you're carrying and what a lot of other people are saying is, that we face some very serious things, and my question is this, what are we going to do about it. Are we just going to say, well I don't know, this looks pretty bad, there's nothing much I can do or we can say what I need to do is dig a hole and just take care of myself, or maybe we take the approach that says yes I do need to take care of myself but one of the most powerful things you can do in helping yourself to be prepared and be okay is to help people around you. By helping, I don't mean that you buy things for them and give it to them, but you help to motivate, inspire and teach and instruct all those who can listen. Will everybody listen? No, I'm not gonna tell you that I think everybody's going to listen because I've seen some people that are not. But there are people who are sitting on the fence if you will, they really haven't made up their mind, they're not quite sure if this thing is real or not. And if we can help them understand this is real, could be very serious, now, get going, let's get busy, then we can reduce the impact of Y2K.
