Frank, Thanks so much for the all encompassing response, I appreciate it. It gave me a firmer grasp of the independent technologies that are in use and the depth of fragmentation of the Telecom equip. in use, not to mention the the future direction, ie. evolution, the industry will take. The outage referred to (T) was ~9-12 Mo. ago on the Atlantic Seaboard, if memory prevails. The idea, was merely one of remote switching capabilities and how T's system could have failed for a seemingly protracted period of time. Frank, you may have answered this w/ your reference to a pure SONNET ring cut. CIEN/SR...straight line tech.(should have asked point A to point B) found it in the TLAB info. You gave me a lot of information to digest and ideas to think about. Thanks again,Stan
