Michael, way cool dude and many thanks. I know engineer thinks all this stuff is pedestrian but it ain't so crystal clear to the non tekkies. Kind of interesting that as America fights its way through the thicket of all the confusing/competing standards while Europe basks in uniformity, that the end result may well be a superior outcome for the Yanks but it's a pain in the patootie in the meantime. "Many people refer to Dual Mode and Dual Band as interchangeable terms... Dual Mode refers to two modes in the same spectrum, one mode beingdigital, the other being analog. Dual Band refers to two bandwidths, 800 Mhz (Analog) and 1900 Mhz (Digital)."

So in effect they are interchangable; that's because all carriers want to lock you in and not let you have the ability to change carriers without having to go to all the trouble and expense of buying a new phone.
