Re options

<<<Wish I could understand your dealings in the options world! Too bad I have to stick to stocks!>>>>
In May of 1997 Pat McDaniel said he thought I could handle options and William explained some of the hazards. Despite knowing that one can only lose the cost of a call, I was always suspicious of that because the broker demanded that I have a minimum of $50,000 to deal with options.
So it took a few months of buying options to be ABSOLUTELY assured that the cost of the call was all a person could lose.
As other thread members said, it also took many months to
get a feel for how options behave.
One hazard of owning options is that they keep a person glued to the screen day after day. That can be avoided by playing Leaps which
mature a year or so out.
I doubt I have bought more than 4 options at a time, yet the
proceeds are over 100K in a year. And they add spice to
investing. Thanks to Venkie's comments, I have owned 3 calls on Onsl for few days which is plus $10k and overrides the $2 drop in Dell.
Summary: Options are risky but provide great leverage for a
stock that rises consistently like Dell
