Dennis, the bidder who already has the contract for the weapon is Alliant Tech. The way I heard it, Valence's battery helped get the weight down to 14 lb and it was Alliant's decision. I don't have the numbers handy for how many weapon's it takes to replace the M16's. You can find a description of the weapon on page 64 of July's issue of Popular Science. I was told deployment has been moved up to year 2001.
