Oh, richard that is so simple...For neither Medicine or Gvn people do not have to spend cash in most instances..So cost is invisible..Sure give me dialysis at 90 years or pacemaker...
Same on the other end, insurace pay for this not patient, so lets not argue and give it...The bottom line society demands eternity and that is costly (since society pays with their children's money than waste is not a concern...Any other business other than Gvn is different....

Richard Medicine like any entitlement once given, you can't scale it back....but at least in USA it provides good paying jobs for now, in Canada or Europe it destroys them by running every other tax into the stratosphere...

To change subject the following reminds me old Soviet joke on Brainstorming what to do with Russia..."There are three gates wide open" (ref to number of open gates in Kremlin where the Gvn is)
