Holiday Shopping Made Easy With e-Commerce Virtual Superstore: Everything4Less

PR Newswire - November 17, 1998 08:14

America's Favorite TV Moms -- Shirley Jones, Florence Henderson, Marion Ross - to Star in Ad Campaign for Service

ENCINO, Calif., Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Launching Thanksgiving weekend in time for the year's busiest shopping days, a new electronic commmerce/Internet shopping service called Everything4Less offers consumers 800,000 brand name products, all with an absolute low-price guarantee. National Media Corporation (NYSE: NM) will attract consumers to its Everything4Less web site by leveraging nearly $100 million of TV media in an advertising campaign starring America's favorite TV moms.

The membership-based Internet shopping service, located at www.Everything4Less.com (or simply www.E4L.com), is the definitive one-stop shopping site.

Customers who do not yet have Internet access can also use the service by ordering from a catalog and by using a toll-free telephone number: 800-TEL-SHOP (or 800-835-7467) to order more than 500,000 items.

"The immense variety of these products, combined with our absolute low-price guarantee and the convenience of electronic shopping, makes Everything4Less the perfect way to shop for the holidays and all year round," said Stephen C. Lehman, Chairman and CEO of National Media Corporation. "We think that shoppers who have to fight crowds in the malls and hunt for sales clerks will appreciate the ease of E-tail shopping."

Everything4Less offers many enticing features:

-- a 90-day free trial membership
-- up to a 5% rebate on products bought over the Internet
-- guaranteed low prices and refunds of 135% of the difference to shoppers who find the same product offered for less
-- Free extended two-year warranties
-- an innovative comparison shopping option which beats Barnes& Noble.com and Amazon.com prices

In addition, Everything4Less offer $75 of pre-paid long-distance telephone time to the first million members who join the $72/year service.

Everything4Less even allows personal shopping. Choices can be accessed either at the web site by clicking various characteristics of the gift's recipient, or at the toll-free number by talking with a customer service representative.

To direct customers to the web site, National Media will introduce a major advertising campaign starring America's favorite TV moms: Shirley Jones ("The Partridge Family"), Florence Henderson ("The Brady Bunch"), and Marion Ross ("Happy Days"). The campaign, premiering Thanksgiving weekend, will be included in the 2,000 half-hours of infomercials that National Media broadcasts nationwide each week, reaching all U.S. television households.

"The name Everything4Less says it all, Jack Kirby, President of National Media, stated. We are offering price, convenience, and speed all under one virtual roof -- the perfect combination for the busy consumer. The range of products is enormous -- everything from bicycles to beds, cameras to computers, videotapes to vacuum cleaners. Shoppers can even have groceries delivered to their door."

"The high visibility of this campaign should put our web site at the top of shoppers' minds," Lehman said. "We are leveraging our TV infrastructure to make Everything4Less a leading electronic commerce site."

Consumers do not have to join Everything4Less to order its products. The difference is that non-members are not guaranteed the same low prices, including a guarantee to meet the price of other Internet-sold products, that members receive.

National Media Corporation is the world's largest publicly held direct response television company and is an innovative leader in the growing world of electronic commerce. It broadcasts more than 3,000 half hours of programming each week throughout the world, reaches 90% of television homes in the United States, brings its programming to more than 370 million television households in more than 70 countries worldwide, and, soon, will provide live, taped, and on-demand video programming over the Internet.
