you are right mr. forthright guy it was wrong of me to think your group could carry on conversation as adults. ok guy i let you get back to insulting every one. have fun & i hope you feel very important now! you remind me of literary critic who reads book after book. he say "no no this is no good! this is childish!" yet if i give you pen & paper to write us great novel you will throw it into trash can. you are easy to see through. it is very sad to see one so full of self importance who offers us so little.

Mr. Forthright,

I think the time to short them is just around the corner.

Although I agree with the sentiment expressed in your post, I have three rules of investing that I faithfully follow:

1) Never try to catch a falling knife.

2) Never stand in front of a speeding locomotive.

3) The potential gain from shorting a stock almost never outweighs the associated risks.

Rule #2 is applicable to the internuts today. Right now they are speeding locomotives and anyone shorting any of them is taking on an enormous amount of risk. No one can predict when or even if they will fall. Normal methods for valuing those stocks aren't currently being followed. I agree that eventually they will fall back to a reasonable multiple of earnings, but eventually could be a very long time from now.

TLC on tech puts, or index puts maybe #reply-6514129
Nothing ever goes in a straight line forever, and the internuts have been rocket stocks for a while now. I wouldn't short any, but may take a flyer on a few puts.

I like golds, posted to that effect about a thousand posts back in this thread, and I still like them. There's lots of leverage in a quality gold like Barrick or Kinross and with the coming Euro and the irrational [imho] y2k panic coming on, gold should recover substantially.

Gold has a huge short on it at this point - Cav should like that ...... cheers

There are so many unsophisticated investors who think they are going to get rich on Internet stocks this week

I think you're going to find that this is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Others are just now jumping on this bandwagon. In addition, there are those who are buying the Internet stocks that haven't made a big run yet. I don't consider myself unsophisticated just because I know when to follow the trend.
