LU spurned COMS, bought AvTel for modem technology!!!

AvTel Suckers Sue
Remember AvTel Communication Inc., that company that saw its stock jump 1,278 percent before trading was halted by Nasdaq back on Nov. 12? Shareholders have filed a suit against the company, charging that the press release that started the stock surge was misleading. Investors were suckered into buying AvTel (AVCO) shares by reports that the company had invented a modem that's 50 times faster than current ones. But, sorry, the company doesn't make modems. And, sorry, the stock is down from its high of $31 to $7.

Moral of the story: never buy a company for its modems!!!
