VivB, I read the Abelson article, 'Flight to Risk', also. What a funny editor! Your WEB Management site is very interesting. My understanding of the internet is that it started as a collection of PhD dissertations. Then a bunch of chess players got into it and before long, everyone got involved. The thing is, chess players didn't get rich by popularizing the net, and imo, Amazon and KTEL won't either. It's something called 'the phenomina of the thirteenth monkey': Teach twelve monkies how to do something odd and you have an army of twelve monkies. Teach the thirteenth monkey how to do it and suddenly monkies a thousand miles away start doing it without being taught. Being part of a popular movement is actually antithetical. It tends to lose its focus. WH
