NW -
special sites to sell hardware to employees at a discount?
Without any deep thought, my reaction would be that any time CPQ can do a direct site which moves products without any overt conflict with existing distribution, they should do so. There is at least a 7 or 8 point advantage in going direct which can be passed along and there is another argument which says that additional discounts can be justified if much of the business is incremental.

I hope they do that for shareholders on a permanent basis!!

NW - IBM used to have a group in the company that handled employee sales. They next went to an IBM web site to do this. Eventually, all was dropped and IBM employee sales are now handled by CompUSA. They have a section of their web site that can only be accessed by IBM employees. You buy via the site or phone, and the equipment is delivered to your home...
